The news that I selected it's linked to the results of the Presidential Elections which took
place in Chile, yesterday. Michelle Bachellet obtained near the 50% of the
total votes but it wasn't enough to win in the first round of the elections, so
the second one will take place in December 17th, when she will be competing
against Evelyn Mattei, who obtained the second majority of votes, leaving
behind in third and fourth place Marco Enriquez-Ominami and Franco Parisi respectively.
The piece also
contains anecdotic information about the female candidates, who despise of
being politically contrary, both has similar backgrounds (like having family
related to the FF.AA [Fuerzas Armadas], for example).
Mattei’s confidence
is linked to the run-off voters who in the recent elections voted for someone else but don’t want to go for Michelle Bachellet in the next round , so she’s
making sure to incorporate something of their campaigns in order to obtain legitimacy.
It’s also makes
reference about the electoral roll, which is near 13.6 million, but only 6
million voted.
What’s strictly is
going to do Mattei to obtain those votes? Can she surpass the 20% mark what
separates Bachellet from her? These questions will be answered sooner or later
by the Chilean people.
